Class Today: Etiquette 101
There are few things that are gray areas in poker as far as rules go. And for the most part what we’re going to be talking about etiquette more than we are about actual rules. See the rules of the game are clear. But some of the player’s actions fall into that grey area that well, it’s just not polite or right to do at the casino online. First. Slowrolling. This is basically when you intentionally wait to show a winning poker online hand. Say three players are all in, four players are in the hand and you’re one of them. Well, the three all-ins end up flipping up their hand, and yours is still down. You’ve just made the all in really happy. At least one of them, but then you finally flip over your cards to show that you won it all. It’s just bad manners. Next, don’t talk about your folded hands. Sure, you didn’t explicitly tell anyone in the hand what their opponents had, but you did tell a lot about what you folded. And this gives an unfair advantage to any player who was paying attention to you. Again, it’s not against the rules, it’s just bad manners. Blaming the dealer. Just don’t do it. It’s not his or her fault the cards fell the way they did. No need to blame them for your run of luck or bad play. And finally, don’t hit and run. Maybe if you’re in a sit-n-go you may be okay to hit a few hands and then leave. But as a serious player, you won’t be one for long. If you end up coming in doubling up, then walking off in some more serious ring games, you’ll soon not be invited back. Again, not a rule. But sometimes how people think of you is just as important as your skill.
