Intelius Expands in Bothell

In early 2009, Intelius expanded its operations in Bothell, a city located in the King and Snohomish Counties in Washington. The company has room for the accommodation of approximately 140 North Creek Campus facility workers. Intelius, which provides public records through online background checks and searches, transferred 50 employees from its Bellevue head office to the new facility last April 2009. In addition, 40 employees who had already been working in Bothell will hold office in the new 25,000 square foot facility in the small city. These employees came from IntelliSense, a company recently bought by Intellius.

The Bellevue-based company’s business scheme is quite uncommon since a number of technology corporations in the Washington region have divided their operations between the Westside and Eastside of Lake Washington so their workers will not have difficulty commuting back and forth.

However, Intelius wanted to combine its enterprise unit, which includes employee screening tools to minor and major businesses, in one location. Since the company already had employees working in Bothell, it was the best place for expansion. In addition, the company also moved its customer service operation to Bothell. Several offices in Bothell have also been set aside so that executives will have their own rooms when they stay there for a one- or two-day visit every week.

As for the financial aspects of the expansion, reports reveal that the Bothell building is cheaper than their Bellevue, Washington headquarters. With this new facility, the company has extra room space, which means more rooms to grow.

Indian businessman Naveen Jain founded Intellius in 2003. Despite the downturn in the economy, it reported revenues of $31.8 million in the first quarter of 2008. It continues to grow as customers repeatedly turn to its service to find public records and background checks on companies, spouses, employees, nannies, and service providers.
