Millions of Virgin Media Customers to Be Upgraded from 2Mb to 10Mb

As a move to follow up on its recent announcement of refocusing its portfolio to concentrate on faster broadband services, Virgin Media will be launching the largest speed upgrade program that UK has ever seen. Starting this May, its present customers at 2Mb will be greeted by a whopping 5 times increase in their broadband speed.

After this upgrade, the provider’s fibre optic portfolio will be starting with an impressive ‘up to 10Mb’ service on offer, and customers desiring even greater speeds would be able to go for a 20Mb or a 50 Mb package.

Thanks to this new initiative, customers can now easily access online services that demand a high speed connectivity. These include online TV, content-rich online games, high definition streaming videos and much more. The company also released a press statement in which it said that it fully supports the government’s ‘Digital Britain’ plan that will see the adoption of high-speed broadband in the UK.

Neil Berkett, Chief Executive of Virgin Media spoke proudly about the new services at the announcement of the upgrade. He mentioned that now the company’s entry-level product is twice as fast as that of the comparable competing services. He also complimented the next generation network that enables them to provide these new services, and is confident of the fact that they are currently the best broadband provider in the UK, given their new 10-20-50 range.
