Blogs Are About Getting to Know Yourself Better

I still consider myself to be a blog writing novice but as I’ve got a few entries under my belt I can tell you about an unexpected bonus of this journaling process. A lot of people think that blog writers are just people who are tooting their own horns blabbering on self-righteously about what they believe to be true in life. On the contrary, for me writing a blog has helped me to reflect on my experiences that I may have otherwise have forgotten if I hadn’t written them down. It has become a process of self-actualization, whether others have read my thoughts has become less of a priority for me.

When I read over my past entries I am surprised to hear about thoughts, ideas, and wisdom that is quite relevant to my present experiences. It’s like I already knew some of the solutions to my problems in the present, but I still had to go through the experiences to actually have this knowledge become truly learnt. I also find it rewarding in both the respects that I get to ‘relive’ certain moments in my life, and I get to analyze my previous thoughts. This analysis often leads me to new ideas that I couldn’t see clearly when I was in the original moment.

‘Reliving’ past experiences by reading old journal entries can be a powerful experience indeed. You can be transported to the moment in time you were writing about, as well as the moment and feelings you had when writing the blog entry. Experiencing these events and feelings again can be a really enlightening process, especially if the emotions you had were strong ones.

An example of this from my blog www.thepowerofeverythingthatis.com is a recent upheaval of emotions I wrote about when a young lady I’d been dating and really started to like a lot told me she didn’t want to kiss me anymore. Now when I read this entry I can feel those same painful feelings, but in a new light as the time has passed and I’ve moved on. It gives me hope in understanding that all feelings pass, and also in the knowledge that all things happen for a reason. This knowledge I couldn’t see at the time as I was totally enveloped by my agony.

These insights into past feelings and thoughts have been an eye opener for my self-introspection process. I think the blog can give you the chance to get to know yourself better, something all humans could find beneficial. All of us are on quests to find out who we are and why we are here on Earth. The blogging process might just be another avenue for people to find out who they truly are. Keep on writing my friends!

Dear Tech Support

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed that the new program began making unexpected changes to the accounting modules, limiting access to flower and jewelry applications that had operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.9 but installed undesirable programs such as NFL 5.0 and NBA 3.0. Conversation 8.0 no longer runs and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. I’ve tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.

Desperate

Dear Desperate,

I regretfully inform you that the technical problems you raise often come with the system purchased. Evidently you did not look around at similar systems or read the fine print prior to making your purchase. Many in your situation try quick solutions, immediately try other systems, are driven to drink or in total frustration simply trash the current system. Unfortunately our current state of technology remains limited and whatever your upgrades, there are always glitches.

I recommend you get technologically proficient with what you have, learn every default capability you can and keep clicking buttons until one works. If your system crashes, wait. Sometimes you may have to turn off the machine and give it a rest. Miraculously, for unknown reasons, glitches may disappear. Another tool to use with your new upgrade is patience. I understand this is not what you bargained for, but it helps. There are times the system will right itself if you simply wait long enough. And, trust me, you will never know why.

If nothing else works, try talking to your machine. I know the system you selected does not include that in the instruction manual, but it is a trick I have learned over the years. And foolish as it may seem, perhaps when no one is looking, caress your machine and give it a kiss.

Your system is only as good as the user and when upgrading, there can be no such thing as foolish pride. So if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again. If all else fails and your system continues to deteriorate, please call in a certified technician before it is too late.

The Power of Covert Hypnosis

The Power of Covert Hypnosis
by Alan Tutt
http://www.KeysToPowerPersuasion.com

Where is the greatest need for Power in your life? For most people, it is in persuading others to go along with our ideas. Whether we are trying to sell a product or service to a prospect, trying to discipline our children, trying to convince our boss to give us a raise, or trying to seduce that beautiful stranger, a greater degree of Power will help us achieve our goals much easier.

In one respect or another, we are trying to sell someone on an idea in practically every situation of our lives. If we could improve our ability to control the situation, our effectiveness as a person would go up considerably, and we would be a more powerful person.

Logic will not always win, even when logic is on our side. I’m sure you’ve been in the situation where every deciding factor was in your favor, yet the other person still would not go along with your plan. Sometimes we take this as a rejection of ourselves, the other person simply did not like us. Sometimes we feel that trust was the issue to blame, or maybe the issue was fear of some sort or another.

The human mind is a very mysterious system. There are so many factors which govern a person’s behavior, and so many variables which we are almost never aware of, that trying to predict exactly what will cause a person to accept our proposal is usually a guaranteed way to fail.

But we don’t have to predict what a person will do. We only have to influence their decision so that they are more likely to do what we want them to do, and our success rate will be better than it was before. In any complex system, a small change can sometimes have dramatic results!

In our study of the mind, we find that the subconscious mind, that part which is outside of our conscious control, is very suggestible. What’s more, the subconscious mind is also far more in control of our actions and behavior than our reasoning, conscious mind. For those of us who look for any and all means to achieve our goals, there is a hint of Power in this knowledge.

What if we could find a way to influence the subconscious mind of the person we are trying to win over to our point of view? If we could find a way to suggest to the other person’s subconscious mind that they want what we are offering, and want it with a fierce desire, then our goal of persuading them will be much easier.

Advertisers have long studied the methods of influencing the subconscious mind. You have probably heard of the experiments with subliminal messages played in movie theaters. A whole industry grew up around the concept of subliminal messages to help a person change their behavior and their habits. While the results are generally disappointing to many who have tried the products offered, the disappointment was as much to do with the general nature of the suggestions buried in the material as it was due to any other factor.

Another industry has gained much popularity in the last several years. This industry has grown up around a new technology of understanding and manipulating the mind. This technology is called NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). NLP teaches us that most people access different areas of the mind while performing some basic physical actions that you can identify. Using this information, you can tell if a person is remembering an actual event that took place or if they are making up a story to cover up what really happened.

NLP has also been used to help people establish rapport with others in an incredibly short period of time. Rapport is important for one key reason, unless you and the person you are trying to influence are in rapport with each other, there will be very little agreement. If the other person does not feel comfortable with you, and does not feel that you are ‘like them’, at least in general ways, that person will not feel good about accepting what you have to say and acting on that information. In short, you will not get what you want from that person.

Okay, so let’s assume that you are somewhat familiar with the basic ideas of NLP. You know about mirroring the other person’s body language. You know about speaking in their terms, whether visual, auditory, or kinesthetic. You even know about the eye movements and what they refer to. This is only the surface of the incredible amount of power that a full knowledge of NLP will give you.

Some of the more advanced techniques of NLP deal with what is known as pacing and leading. The central idea here is that if you say a number of things that are obviously true, such as we are in a room with 4 walls, that we are sitting at this table talking with each other, and that you are holding a glass of wine, then whatever you say next (which is not so obvious) will seem to be more true than if you did not include the obvious facts. Guys, if your girlfriend starts to think that you don’t love her, here is your salvation. Simply say a string of obviously true statements right before you tell her you do love her. Repeat this a few times and she will start to believe you.

And this works (to one degree or another) with those you just met. You can use this if you are a salesperson trying to convince the prospect that your product is superior to your competition’s product. You can use this to convince your boss that you are worth much more than the company is paying you. And you can use this to convince that hottie that spending an evening with you will be better than anything else he/she could be doing.

This one concept from the science of NLP is priceless! And there is much more. There is a whole segment in NLP on language patterns. There are some patterns which will help you discover exactly what someone means when they say something vague and mysterious. There are language patterns which contain hidden meanings which bypass the conscious mind and go straight to the subconscious mind (our focus for this article). And there are language patterns that can induce a hypnotic state without a formal induction ritual. Talk about an open door to the subconscious mind!

There is so much information, that a brief article such as this one could not cover it all. There are numerous books out on the market which explain many of the theories of NLP. And if you’re good at translating theory into practical application, any of these books will give you greater power in dealing with other people.

Good luck in your persuasion activities!

Worldwide Glaciers Are Retreating at a Dreadful Rate

Glaciers are melting at a greater pace than at any decade since records began, reports The Independent. Researchers from the World Glacier Monitoring Service, which tracks 31 glaciers in 9 mountains, estimate that between 1850 to 1970 glaciers receded at a mean rate of 27 centimetres per annam. In between 1972 and 1998 the amount retreating climbed to 60 to 90 centimeters a year. From then the average has made up more than 1m per year. The last winter reported the greatest recedings thus far of 1.4 meters.

Worldwide glaciers are withdrawing at any rate as fast as those in this sample with potentially calamitous outcomes for close by communities. Shortly there could be a lot more floods, and in the not so distant future, water supplies will run out, leading to noticeable water shortfalls.

Chamonix Mont Blanc, has a large no. of glaciers, the outcomes of global warming and the disappearing of glaciers will probably be keenly experienced. Perhaps this is why numerous businesses, as well as several Chamonix holiday operators, and individuals are more cognisant of the topics and are therefore attempting to undertake steps to restrain their carbon output. With luck it isn’t too belated to stem the consequences of climate change and insure an environment for our children.

The Desires of Your Heart: Hallowed Ground, Part 2

“Delight yourself also in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
Ps.37:4

The heart motivations and passions God has given us to fulfill His will for our lives, can lead us down some interesting paths. These paths may bring challenges, but they can also bring some incredible rewards!

We have a lot at stake. We have a calling and a destiny that is from God. We not only have been given desires, but abilities and gifts to carry out those desires. These are the guide within us to find a purposeful life. You could almost call it our “homing device” to direct us to our sought after destination.

Finding a Life of Purpose
It is amazing the things in our life that can help us find that life of purpose. Sometimes we may travel a rather straightforward journey, letting our desires and joys lead the way. Other times circumstances, perhaps beyond our control, may give birth to our life of purpose. Adversity and trial can be the crucible from which we find our mission and ourselves. Whatever our story may be, God’s dreams for us will always be bigger than we are— and will require a walk of faith.

Are you a seeker, looking for “something” you could feel passionate about? Wouldn’t you like to find the life that you could say, “This is me. This is what I was made for!” Isn’t this better than spending a life of regret? What is so special about passion anyway? I would like to expand on it a bit. There are several things that come to mind:

  • Passion is within us. It is there to point us toward a purpose or mission we could believe in, and the path we should follow.
  • Passion can be identified when we discover what it is that motivates us the most.
  • Passion is not about what we do. It is about doing what we are passionate about.
  • Passion calls us to take risks, face challenges, and to trust God.
  • Passion teaches us a lot about ourselves.
  • Passion is used to serve and benefit others, and carry out the things God wants accomplished in the world.

One Woman’s Story
It is encouraging and helpful to hear the stories of those who have not left their heart desires and passions behind, but have followed those desires and found a fulfilling and meaningful life. Such women can inspire us and instruct us, as we attempt to bring our own heart along in our life journey. This one of the most important missions of our life, but it can also be one of the hardest to carry out! Many fail, and as Henry David Thoreau claimed, “live lives of quiet desperation.”

Let’s hear and benefit from someone who did step out to follow her dreams, or in Jan Carlberg’s case, someone who saw her dreams start to gradually unfold before her. That often happens that as we keep doing the things we love, and find ourselves drawn to. Jan tells her story:

“When I was thirty six we moved east to Gordon College, where Jud became dean of the faculty… A couple of years later, after our children were in school, I took a part-time job at the college working in campus activities…later I became director of orientation, then assistant chaplain. Sometimes I spoke in chapel. This led to invitations from students to speak in their churches, opening up opportunities to speak nationally. I silently prayed, ‘God, I could not have thought this up.’

“Several years ago my husband became president of Gordon College. All my training in hospitality, meeting strangers, making friends, learning to adapt and flex prepared me for this newest stage. I love teaming up with Jud to tell and write the Gordon story. It’s a fresh way to teach and encourage. It is my passion, my mission. I believe whatever motivates a person is his or her mission. Now my struggles are more with distinguishing the good from the best. It’s about balance.

“Today I have a sense of harmony with what I do and how God made me…I love being a wife and mom, but I also love using my gifts of writing, teaching, and encouraging… To grow in love and knowledge of God is to learn to love and know
Yourself, since we are made in the image of God.

“To other women I would say, … don’t be afraid to trust God with all your heart’s desires, wishes, and fears… discover your gifts, your mission, what energizes you, and don’t be limited or driven by outside forces. Enjoy the journey.” (From Follow Your Heart and Discover God’s Dream for You, p.126-128, by Judy Peterson.)

Hallowed Ground
In closing, I don’t know how you will discover your own dreams and sense of mission. I do know that you can ask God to show you the purposes for your life, and the dreams and plans He has for the desires and abilities you have been given. Be open, like Jan, to how that might unfold. Don’t overlook the deep desires in your heart. They are “hallowed ground.” Find out why they are there! God wants to help you fulfill them.

Happy dream journey,

Judy Peterson

Get Hold of Discount West End Theatre Tickets Online

Short breaks away always seem like such an outstanding idea - to leave behind habits and habitats, experiencing something brand new; perhaps listen to something different. Nevertheless, without an aim, weekends away can now and again fall somewhat flat, a case of strolling around an enormous city, periodically popping into retail outlets & looking at monuments. This might be ok if you are contented to go with the flow, although if you like being busy & ‘doing’ something then theatre musical breaks can be an outstanding option.

Even though you can constantly travel to France, why would you need to? There is significant talent and delight far closer to you in the City. Famously, the Capital possesses a large number of magnificent theatres, most of which are located together somewhere within the West End - a place in which your life appears to become a little more rosy and all things turns out well at the end of the day; or at least if not, you can get misplaced in thrilling moments & feel a slightly better human being.

However for lavish, cheery amusement during a London theatre show break the majority of individuals see musicals. These can be anything from the heart-wrenching tragedy for example Les Misérables to the rollerblading enjoyment that is undoubtedly Starlight Express. Nevertheless fans of rock & roll, doo-wap & boys & women in extremely tight leather will only be concerned about one choice - Grease. Taking the globe by storm in the nineteen-seventies, this famous show has never ever ceased to make an impression on the public, transferring with great style to the silver screen. Staring a fine-looking John Travolta and an impossibly thin Olivia Newton-John, the movie went on to be chosen for an Oscar.

A great number of people will have a small space in their heart retained for Grease, no matter what age you are, or indeed what sex. It is 1 of those good films that is enjoyed by many age groups; in the same way as the musical is interesting for both young and old. The ease and liveliness of Rydell High is catchy, the late 1950s costumes are so desirably retro, & the music songs are so contagious that you will be singing in your seats. The Leicester Square Box Office offers great savings on all top West End musical.
