Adversity to Victory

The following is a true story about a young friend who lives in St. Louis.

Andy was born with a developmental disorder. The two sides of his brain were not joined normally with each other. The right side of his body could not communicate with the left. At age three, it was difficult for him to walk, speak, and play. He could only echo back a few words and walk slowly while someone held each of his hands.

Then came the struggles. He attended an all-day center where he was enrolled in every imaginable therapy. He struggled, sometimes in tears, to get stronger. Andy hated it when his parents would leave him there in the mornings. However, they believed against all odds that he would grow up to live a normal healthy life. They believed it for themselves, and for Andy.

It paid off. Today Andy is a successful 13-year old high school student. His progress has been nothing short of phenomenal. He receives special help with a few things, but he joins with his friends in all the activities he loves. Andy overcame enormous odds to move from adversity to victory.

Ask yourself: “What are the seeds of strength hidden in my struggles today? If I get back up when I fall, what will that make possible tomorrow?”

“Overnight success” is the result of years of tenacity and continued learning. Victory is possible for those who decide it’s their most compelling option. They’ll find the path to their dream. However, they will accept adversities as universities that will foster strength, growth, and skills to attract the victory they seek.

Energy Work Basics Part 3: The Power of High Intention

At SPIRIT Connections, we believe that the most powerful tool we have when working with energy is our ability to set a high intention. We add the word “high” to intention since we are interested in intentions with a high vibration.

When you are starting something new, it is helpful to set an intention. An intention is about what you want in generic terms. We often use the term: “the highest good of all” as our intention. We then know whatever happens is for the highest good of all whether it looks like that to us or not.

An intention is not about how you achieve what you intend. How our intention is achieved is best left to the universe (or Higher Power, spirit, source, God, Allah, Buddha…) to figure out. Our experience has shown that the universe is much more creative than we are. Our job is to be clear about what we want, and to set a high intention. Then we let the universe get to work on manifesting it for us. We help the universe by following our guidance, intuition, and gut feelings. We trust that the intention is unfolding.

Maybe you’ve had the experience of something unfolding in a way that far exceeds your expectations yet is completely in alignment with your desires. That is the power of setting a high intention and leaving the details up to the cosmos. By attempting to dictate how something occurs, we limit the creativity of the universe.

Setting an intention is not about controlling the outcome. An intention is not about a specific outcome for another person. We do not usually know what is in their highest good. Most of us have gone through so-called “tough” patches in our lives. With hindsight, these tough patches often turn out to be gifts in disguise. So, we can ask for the highest good of all. That way, what needs to take place does and we don’t need to know what it is.

To recap, the most powerful tool we have is our own high intention. If we state to ourselves and the universe that our intention is to contribute to the highest good of ourselves and the planet, it will be so.

Mont Blanc Doubles in Height since 2004 as Announced by Scientists

Fresh careful Global Positioning System readings carried out on the 14-15th September have depicted that Monte Bianco amounts to 4810.7 meters. Monte-Bianco is smothered by a thick ice cap which has increased by 2.7 metres in only two years however more unexpectedly the mass of the ice and snow has just about doubled up . Least ways that is according to the professionals.

The mass of snow and ice was figured for the maiden time during 2003. It worked out to be 14500 cubic meters above 4790 m. It comprised just 13500 metres cubed in 2005 maybe due to the heat wave with positive temp even at 4850 meters height. Nonetheless the ice cap has virtually doubled up since then and at present equals 25000 metres cubed.

Chamonix town’s reputable near by weather man Robert Mason explained the growth in the bulk of the ice cap is among the perverse outcomes of global warming: Snowfall has not increased generally in the Alps merely with the climate change we’re seeing additional hotter westerly air currents which bring in rainfall lower down but during summertime this translates to significant snow that settles at higher altitude than 3700 metres altitude hence the amount of the ice is rising. Compare that to the state of affairs in winter when snow crystals are exceedingly cold and are transferred by wind so don’t settle on the crest.

Chamonix France is not just renowned for Mount Blanc it is also a world renowned ski resort and climbing center with many holiday bargains and self catering chalets to be hired. And at just one hour from Geneva airport it is ideal for a short break.

Making the Board of Directors More Robust

In recent times the most visible public role for Peter Sutherland as chairman of BP PLC was to play host at the company’s yearly meeting. But after a string of oil spills, deadly accidents and an energy-trading scandal at BP, the 60-year-old one-time rugby player has charged head first into the scrum.

Last year, the Irish politician and banker forced Chief Executive John Browne to publicly identify his retirement date. After Lord Browne’s surprise decision last month to leave a year and a half earlier than previously planned, Mr. Sutherland must now buff BP’s image and manage the company’s first executive-suite transition in more than ten years.

Despite soaring oil prices its shares rose only 4.5 per cent in 2006, in comparison with a 36 per cent increase by Exxon Mobil Corp. and 15 per cent at Royal Dutch Shell PLC. Yesterday, the company reported fourth-quarter net income fell 22 per cent, in part reflecting lower production and lower natural-gas prices.

BP, meanwhile, faces U.S. criminal probes on three fronts — oil spills and corrosion in Alaska; a March 2005 refinery blast that killed 15 in Texas; and its energy-trading practices, with federal officials alleging BP traders manipulated propane markets in 2004. BP refutes this claim and says it is cooperating with investigators on all three inquiries.

Mr. Sutherland’s higher profile also underpins a pattern that goes beyond BP: a shift in the boardroom dynamics at many of Europe’s largest publicly traded companies. The criticism is often leveled that nonexecutive directors leave too much of the decision making to the executives. Now, many companies are moving to shore up their boards with strong and independent directors.

Up until Shell were shaken by an accounting scandal in 2004, Shell’s British holding company had as its chairman a professor of geology. After the controversy, it recruited Jorma Ollila, former chief executive officer of Nokia Corp as chairman. Unilever appointed an outside chairman last month to cap a restructuring at the Anglo-Dutch consumer-goods giant.

Mr. Sutherland’s mission at BP has always been to establish a “robust” and independent board structure he was quoted as saying in a recent interview. After short periods as Ireland’s attorney general and Europe’s competition czar, Peter Sutherland in 1993 was instrumental in taking forward the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade in Geneva. There, he clinched the Uruguay Round, a pivotal trade agreement that set the stage for today’s World Trade Organization. For a man who has achieved so much it is difficult to forsee where he will find his next challenge.

Duplicity

Direct Answers - Column for the week of January 26, 2004

We’ve been married 20 years. In order to spice up our sex life we would occasionally share fantasies, and one that seemed to turn us both on involved my wife with me and another man. This remained a fantasy until recently when we had drinks with a photographer who specializes in “boudoir photography.”

Probably as a result of too much wine I asked if he would take photos of my wife, and he agreed. On the day of the photo session my wife asked me what she should do as she was nervous. I conveyed to her she was to lose her inhibitions and enjoy the experience. The shoot took place at midday, and I could not be there.

Afterwards she told me the photo session had been a success. She and the photographer shared a bottle of wine, and in the course of the session she’d learned much about posing properly. She went on to say she and the photographer participated in a whole gamut of sex acts she really enjoyed since he had unlimited stamina.

She said she hoped I felt good since she had gone along with it for me. She says she loves me more than ever and will not ever do this again. Her subsequent actions support this. Although I helped to arrange it, I am unable to stop thinking of the whole episode. I want to get over it and move on, but I’m losing sleep big time.

John

John, in one of Mozart’s operas, an older man bets two younger ones their sweethearts are fickle. As part of the bet, the two younger men are to pretend to be called away, then return in disguise and try to seduce the women. The older man is confident the women will not be faithful; the young men are equally confident they will be.

While the plot is hokey, it flirts with a great truth. Our deepest desire is for someone who wants only us. What you really want is for your wife to say and mean, “You are the only one I could ever make love to.” That is the sexier thing and the deeper desire.

You didn’t understand your sexual fantasy would override your deeper desire. In your head you controlled the outcome. In actuality, you controlled nothing. You didn’t fantasize your feelings would turn out like this. But in the letters we receive, one or both parties is always revolted by the outcome.

Your wife was not true to your fantasy. You weren’t there, and that is why you feel she is mollifying you. But even if you had been there, your feelings would likely be the same. We never, ever, recommend intimate relationships with more than one person. In the letters we receive, the outcome is always what you describe.

Diminished Capacity

Last month my boyfriend of eight years and I hosted a New Year’s Eve party. After I was completely and utterly drunk, my boyfriend and best friend took me into the bedroom with plans to have a threesome. We discussed this before but not thoroughly.

My somewhat sober boyfriend had sex with her. Apparently (I don’t remember much) I approved. Now I am heartbroken. Everything that was so special between us is gone. I look at him with disgust because of the things they did. I am so ashamed this happened. I don’t know if I’ll ever get over this.

Audra

Audra, we get more letters about sexual jealousy than about any other topic. This is the most intimate act you can do with another person. Most people cannot tolerate even the suggestion there is someone else in their partner’s life.

The third, fourth, fifth, or sixteenth person in an intimate relationship dilutes and devalues the relationship. When the relationship is no longer mutually exclusive, the boundaries are lost, and usually, so is the relationship.

Astrology for Artificial Intelligent Androids

Many people very much believe astrology and many believe that this knowledge has served them well. Many people who are astrologically inclined plan their vacations, events and social gatherings or even business deals around the astrological predictions from charts. When an artificial intelligent robotic android is first built, that would be its birthday and thus it would be a Leo, Libra or Sagittarius or one of the other zodiac signs.

Therefore for one who believes astrology it would make sense that if you had a robotic artificially intelligent android as a maid for your home you would not ask you to do the dishes with your best china on a day when it might be bad luck. Additionally, if you’re robotic assistant was to walk the dog each day, you might consider walking the dog yourself on a day which is said to be bad luck.

Further, if you asked you’re robotic assistant artificially intelligent android to detail your car because you had a date, you may wish have your robotic companion do it on a day of good luck. I can tell you that those who believe in the astrology are really into it and will have to figure out a way to mesh artificial life, silicone chip and robotic androids into their belief system to insure that every day is a good day. On the biggest bad luck days you could simply turn your artificially intelligent robotic android off or use that day to charge it up so it will be ripped roaring ready to go with your astrological chart gives you the green light. Consider this in 2006.

Colours - an Introduction

Colours (Colors) - An Introduction
Author: Jennifer McCormack

Colour therapy is only now just starting to gain its much desired respect and confidence. Here’s a nice simple (and cheap) way to benefit from colour therapy.

If you need some perking up and you find that you could do with a good dose of orange to revitalise and replenish your soul (and not too many of us have an orange sweater or even a shirt in the cupboard), buy some orange cellophane paper, wrap it around a glass of chilled water and set it in the sun, allow it to stand for 10 minutes or until you feel that the warmth of the sun (and your chosen healing colour) have penetrated the water and then simply drink from the glass, as you drink concentrate on the orange warmth entering and healing your body.

Below you will find colours and their meanings… you can always combine your colours to help you achieve your goals.

The Colour Green…
Assists With : Healing, Balance, Prosperity, Luck, Harmony

The colour green covers many areas on our earth and brings balance and peace. Green promotes confidence, and brings harmony and symmetry. It is both mentally and physically relaxing and promotes synergy between the body and soul. It reminds us of our roots and grounds us when needed.

The colour Green represents the star sign Taurus.

The Colour Brown…
Assists With : Healing Animals, Mother Earth, The Home

Brown is used to reach back to our Mother Earth, and find within her the powers to heal animals and create peace and harmony around and within your home. Focussing on the colour brown can increase our powers to heal the planet and help all of her creatures.

The Colour Pink…

The Colour Red…

The Colour Purple…

Another one of the powerful and intense colours, used correctly purple can enhance and strengthen healing and assist us in our journey towards true spirituality. Look for people you know to be spirituality “in-tune” and I am sure you will find some shade of the colour purple on them.

The colour Purple represents the star sign Pisces.

The Colour Blue…

Blue is most children’s favourite colour - ever wonder why? Blue is an extremely powerful colour it delves deep into the psyche. Acquire Cheap Cricket Supplies Online

When you are just starting out playing cricket it’s not always straightforward to tell what you need to buy. If you go into a sportswear equipment retail store and ask them what you require, you will in all probability finish up coming out with a considerable amount of kit. So, it is best to understand what you require before you go shopping. That way you are more likely to purchase what you want, rather than what the store owner suggests you require. Find great offers on cricket bags.

Below, is more or less a comprehensive cricket equipment list, you do not need all the kit on this list, as several organisations will lend you equipment especially at youth level:

Cricket whites, cricket bats, balls, helmets, gloves, batting (wicket keeping) inner gloves, wicket keeping gloves, batting pads, wicket keeping pads, box, chest pad, arm guard, inner thigh pad, cricket boots (bowling boots; batting boots), box (groin guard), stumps and bails.

For most of the cricket games you will ever participate in you will need to have your own set of whites. Cricket whites consist of white cricket trousers & cricket shirt. It is very important to ensure that you find a correct pair of cricket trousers and also a good white cricket shirt and jumper as it can quickly turn pretty cold if you are standing out on the pitch for a significantly long time in particular if you intend to play in England (the start and end of the cricket season are the coldest).

If you can not hire equipment from your club the other most important items of equipment are a cricket bat and box. A good quality cricket bat is necessary if you intend to score heaps of runs & is a very individual piece of equipment, therefore spend a great deal of time selecting your bat, preferably you would be advised to go to a sports shop and pick one up before you buy so you know how it feels to hit with. When you know what you want you can often buy bats on the Web significantly cheaper). You need a good box to defend your groin from the ball, as getting hit down below’ is considerably painful, so investing in a good box before you start is a must - you can’t bat without one.

The Basics in Personal Development Plan and the Process of a Continuous Personal Development Growth

In a personal development plan trust, recognition, motivation and the importance of continuous personal development growth is essential. This is supported by Maslow’s theory that human beings progress through a hierarchy of needs until self-actualization is reached. The simile drawn for this process is to build an emotional bank account as defined by Maslow. To build these emotional bank accounts decision-making and self-actualization are the main components.

With a proper personal development plan people have gone a long way achieving self-actualization. The flipside of this personal development growth is that there is no perfect decision nor can decisions be made lazing around.

When difficult decisions need to be taken the average person goes wrong by solving the wrong problems. The hazards are characterizations of decision where objectives become narrow and only a few alternatives are taken into consideration.

Bad decisions are made because situations are not considered in a broader context. This leads to developing tolerance and accepting problems. Choosing solutions from decisions is more a habit than figuring what decisions should be addressed. The easy way out is to do what comes naturally and not question the issues as this becomes an emotionally-easier decision.

First define the “decision problem”. A good solution to a well-posed problem is superior than an outstanding solution to a poorly-posed problem. Addressing the problem correctly is essential and in the course of arriving at a solution the situation may change and the problem becomes a new problem while the situation doesn’t change.

Focusing and working on the right problem is essential but can be associated with the pain and fear of error in judgment. In formulating a Personal Development plan, chances of both good and bad decisions, the fear of failure and willingness to get experienced through mistakes helps in getting closer to self-actualization. The tendency to ask questions repeatedly may be annoying but it is a sure shot method of getting comfortable with the process of proper decision-making.

On the way to success, there are no short cuts and it starts with getting comfortable with failures. While creating a proper personal development growth plan thickening the emotional skin and getting comfortable with failures on the way brings dreams to fruition. These form the absolute basic tenets for high-performance and fulfillment.
